Plan a free hilltop date at Griffith Observatory around exhibits, public telescopes, and city views that stretch to sunset. Building, grounds, and public telescope access are always free; planetarium shows and nearby parking have separate fees.
Open hours generally run Tuesday through Friday noon to 10 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with Monday closed. That late close supports a sunset-to-stars plan when you can manage the hill approach.
