Point Vicente Interpretive Center

Combine a free cliffside viewpoint with a small peninsula-history museum at Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes. The site is a whale-watch viewpoint with park grounds generally open from dawn to dusk for a short walk and conversation.

Museum and gift shop hours are posted 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and city notices have stated museum admission is free. Scenic South Bay air is the main draw; the museum is the indoor backup.

Start outdoors for the view, step inside if wind picks up, and time a winter or spring visit if whale watching is part of the hope.
