New York Transit Museum

99 Schermerhorn Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201

Historic subway cars, buses, signs, and engineering exhibits at the New York Transit Museum make a compact indoor outing for transit fans across school-age and teen years in Downtown Brooklyn. Public hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The main entrance has stairs; the accessible entrance is at Schermerhorn and Court Streets. The museum publishes quieter weekday afternoon times (currently Wednesday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m.), lends sensory-support toolkits, offers free personal care attendants, and runs occasional free early-access Special Days for families of children with developmental disabilities or autism.

Enter through the accessible door if stairs are a barrier, and book Special Day when the quieter early entry matters more than a regular weekend visit.

Cost: Adults $10; children 2-17, seniors 62+, and visitors with disabilities $5; personal care attendants free
