La Peña Cultural Center

La Pena Cultural Center is a Berkeley community arts space rooted in Latin American culture and social justice at 3105 Shattuck Avenue. Its calendar has included public series in cumbia, salsa, bachata, and merengue.

Classes welcome newcomers, require no partner, and use non-gendered leader and follower roles. Entry often includes related community dance gatherings, which helps the class feel like community rather than only technique.
