NYC Council Diwali, Deepavali & Bandi Chhor Divas Celebration

The New York City Council hosts its Diwali, Deepavali, and Bandi Chhor Divas celebration on Monday, November 30, 2026, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Doors open at 5 p.m.; the program starts at 5:30 p.m.

RSVP through the Council events page. City Hall is a working government building, so plan for security screening and arrive early if you are bringing family.

This is a civic recognition program inside City Hall. It suits households that want an official Diwali-season gathering after neighborhood street festivals have already wrapped.
