Staten Island Zoo

Staten Island Zoo is a compact zoo with mammals, reptiles, birds, farm animals, a children's area, and a carousel, without the scale of a full-day wildlife park. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and free after 2 p.m. on Wednesdays.

KultureCity sensory bags, noise-canceling headphones, fidgets, weighted lap pads, and a downloadable social story are available for ordinary visits. The carousel operates only on weekends, Wednesdays, and school holidays, and the zoo no longer participates in Cool Culture.

Aim for Wednesday after 2 p.m. if free admission is the plan, and download the social story before a first visit with sensory needs.
