B.C. Marriage Commissioners
Province-wide civil officiants (search by area)
Hire a government-registered marriage commissioner when you want a nonreligious civil ceremony at a park, home, museum, or venue rather than a house of worship. Vital Statistics publishes a search tool by area and a regulated fee table so you can budget before you email anyone.
The base civil ceremony fee is $75 plus GST ($78.75). Extra time, mileage, parking, or ferry costs may apply depending on where you marry and how long the commissioner stays.
This is especially useful for couples who want a short legal ceremony on one day and a larger cultural reception on another. Confirm the location rules with both the commissioner and the venue before you print invitations.
