VSB Early Mandarin Bilingual at Norquay Elementary

The Vancouver School Board's Early Mandarin Bilingual pathway at Norquay Elementary runs Kindergarten through Grade 7 with about half the day in Mandarin and half in English. Children both learn Mandarin and study subjects in Mandarin for part of the school day.

Families apply through District Choice processes rather than treating Norquay as an automatic neighbourhood default. For Grades 1 to 7, the district has published an online January to early February window at elemchoice.vsb.bc.ca, and kindergarten has its own registration path.

Read the English language proficiency expectations before you apply. This is a full school-day bilingual model, not a weekend heritage class, so the fit question is whether your child can thrive in that 50/50 rhythm.
