Help Me Grow LA connects families who have questions about a young child's development with Family Partners who have lived experience raising children with special needs. Partners help with screening pathways, early intervention navigation, paperwork, and community resources across Los Angeles County.

Families can call (833) 903-3972 or complete a referral form for screening, early intervention, or community-resource support. This is free navigation support, not a clinical diagnosis visit.

Los Angeles County Public Health runs Nurse-Family Partnership as a free, voluntary nurse home-visiting program. Specially trained public health nurses support eligible first-time pregnant people beginning in pregnancy and can continue until the child turns 2.

The model is built for higher-need, lower-income first-time parents, not as a short postpartum check-in. Referral runs through a confidential form and email to HomeVisit@ph.lacounty.gov, with MCAH office phone (213) 639-6478.

Start the referral during pregnancy if you want the full visit schedule. This is a long relationship with a nurse, so treat enrollment timing as part of prenatal planning.

The federal National Maternal Mental Health Hotline offers free, confidential 24/7 support by call, text, or chat for pregnant people, new parents, and family members. Counselors listen, share information, and help connect callers to local resources.

Reach the hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) in English and Spanish. It is not a substitute for 988 in a suicidal crisis, a boundary HRSA states clearly in its FAQ.

Save this number for nights and weekends when local warmlines are closed. LA County DHS PROMISE resources also point families to the same national line.

PHFE WIC, a program of Heluna Health, provides no-cost healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and family resources for eligible pregnant people and caregivers of children under 5. Appointments are available by phone, video, online, and in person across many Southern California sites.

The service area includes Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Bernardino County. Families can call 888-942-2229 or text 91997 to schedule, and the program promotes online breastfeeding support groups and WIC classes.

Use WIC early in pregnancy when you can, not only after birth. Confirm your closest clinic hours once your appointment format is set.

Sana Sana is Maternal Mental Health NOW's free perinatal peer-support program for expectant and new parents in Los Angeles County. Callers can get culturally congruent navigation, connections to free support groups, and weekly follow-up in English or Spanish.

The audience explicitly includes mothers, fathers, partners, adoptive parents, queer and gender-expansive people, and people after loss. Reach the team Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific at 1-888-823-7262 or sana@maternalmentalhealthnow.org.

Use Sana Sana when you need a warmline and peer path, not a crisis line. Keep 988 for suicidal emergencies and this number for perinatal mental-health navigation during weekday hours.

Welcome Baby is a free, voluntary hospital and home-visiting program for Los Angeles County families who plan to deliver at a participating hospital. Support can include a parent coach, an in-hospital lactation educator visit, a postpartum nurse visit, and help connecting to resources through the baby's early months.

Services are free regardless of income, immigration status, or insurance when eligibility rules are met. You can enroll during pregnancy or at the hospital before discharge. Once you leave the hospital, you can no longer enroll.

Check the participating hospital list before you assume your birth hospital is covered. Sites span Antelope Valley, Downtown, South LA, Long Beach, the San Fernando Valley, and the San Gabriel Valley.

UCLA Health BirthPlace offers virtual group classes on childbirth preparation, baby care, breastfeeding, and postpartum care, plus in-person childbirth preparation and infant CPR/first aid at UCLA Santa Monica for UCLA patients.

Class schedules and pair pricing are posted on the official classes page. Recent posted in-person pair pricing has included Infant CPR and First Aid and Childbirth Preparation around $150 per pair. Virtual class access and fees should be confirmed at registration.

Register early in the third trimester if you want a specific date. Non-UCLA patients should verify which formats are open before building a class plan around Santa Monica.

The Asian Pacific Islander Breastfeeding Task Force, hosted with BreastfeedLA, organizes community breastfeeding education and peer support for Asian and Pacific Islander families in Los Angeles County. Its Dede Diner virtual Baby Cafe centers Filipino experience while welcoming all families seeking chest or breastfeeding support.

Confirm the current meeting link before you join. Treat this as peer support, then keep a clinical IBCLC path for medical feeding complications.

Pasadena Public Health Department runs Black Infant Health with weekly prenatal and postpartum group sessions plus life-planning case management at 1845 N. Fair Oaks Ave. The program is designed for African American women in a culturally affirming setting.

Published services include 10 prenatal and 10 postpartum group sessions, plus complementary life planning and referrals covering pregnancy, newborn care, stress, and healthy relationships. Appointment phone is (626) 744-6155.

This is the San Gabriel Valley BIH site when Long Beach is too far. Call for intake timing before you assume a seat in the next group cycle.

MLK Community Healthcare's lactation clinic offers IBCLC support for latch, milk supply, nutrition, jaundice checks, and parent support groups at 135 E. Compton Blvd., Suite 131. The clinic states it serves mothers with or without insurance and does not require a referral or prior authorization.

Use this when hospital bedside help was not enough and you need outpatient clinical feeding support. Confirm current visit cost when you book, even though insurance is not required to be seen.

City of Long Beach Black Infant Health offers free, culturally affirming group sessions and case management for Black pregnant and postpartum birthing people. The program serves people living in or delivering in the greater Long Beach area or Orange County.

Eligibility covers Black birthing people 16 or older who are pregnant or up to 6 months postpartum. Free services can include about 20 group sessions or 1:1 case management, transportation assistance, life planning, and workshops on feeding, safe sleep, and stress.

MOMS Orange County pairs families with a Maternal Child Health Worker for monthly visits during pregnancy and through the baby's first year. The nonprofit also offers prenatal health education classes at no cost.

Services are offered in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Program scope covers pregnancy education, postpartum care, baby development, and system navigation from the Santa Ana office at 1128 W Santa Ana Blvd.

Call 714-972-2610 when you want community home visiting without a nurse-model eligibility screen. Confirm class schedules separately from the monthly visit plan.

Orange County Health Care Agency runs Nurse-Family Partnership for low-income, first-time parents who enroll early in pregnancy. A nurse home visitor follows a published schedule from pregnancy through the child's second birthday.

Eligibility includes first pregnancy, less than 28 weeks pregnant, low-income status, and a desire to participate. The reach number is (714) 834-8218. Visit cadence moves from weekly early pregnancy visits toward monthly visits until age 2.

Enroll before the 28-week cutoff if you want this path. It is the Orange County parallel to LA County NFP, not a drop-in postpartum clinic.

Orange County Health Care Agency WIC offers healthy foods, nutrition information, breastfeeding support, and community referrals for eligible pregnant and postpartum people and children under 5. Enrollment paths include online application and phone scheduling at 1 (888) 968-7942.

County pages document prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding counseling, electric and manual pumps for qualifying participants, and a Breastfeeding Helpline at (714) 834-8363. Prenatal guides are linked in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Call the helpline when latch or supply questions hit outside clinic hours. Keep WIC and the helpline as two different tools, one for benefits and one for feeding support.
